The La Sal Mountains lie to the south and east of Moab. Their tree covered slopes are an abrupt change from the dry desert country around Moab. This is a late evening shot.
Moab lies in a long valley with tall rock rim in the distance and a lower rocky rim on which I'm standing. Went out one morning to catch the sunrise over the valley and the colorful rock.
From this big hunk of slickrock I could see the Moab valley to my left and the rock rim and canyons to the front and right.
